Hello my friends! It has been a few months since I last did a personal update on my life, and I felt like it was a good time as we start the new year to do a quick life update post. So many exciting things have been going on, but unfortunately I started the year with that nasty flu that is going around. I am finally feeling better, and eager to have this year be the best one yet. So here are a few exciting things going on in my life.
We got engaged!
Over Thanksgiving, on a road trip from Colorado to California (more posts on the epic road trip coming soon!) I got engaged to the love of my life! Todd popped the question in Monument Valley, Utah. A place very special to him, and now one very special to us. He did it while pretending to take some Christmas card photos, and I think the picture below shows how truly shocked I was. We got that first photo by asking a couple that was driving by to stop and take a picture of us. They were from Australia, and happy to do so. Little did they know it was one of the most special pictures we will ever take.
We stopped for the night at the Grand Canyon and watched the sunrise the next morning. This was both of our first time at the Grand Canyon, and it was truly magical!
People always ask: yes, I was genuinely shocked about the proposal! It was the easiest and best YES I’ve ever said!
And we’re going to Spain and Portugal!
To make 2018 even more exciting from a travel perspective, we are getting married in August here in Denver, and booked our honeymoon to Spain and Portugal already! I know I will be writing a lot about the upcoming trip, what to pack for a honeymoon, and all the itinerary details. I have never been to Portugal (country #36!), and I’ve only been to Barcelona in Spain. So I am excited to buy some guidebooks and start researching where we want to go. We are not really “beach people” (aka laying on the beach for 2 weeks with nothing to do), but are looking for a mix of culture, good food and wine, and a bit of relaxation. I think Portugal in the summer will fit this perfectly. I can’t wait to share the details with you as they develop.
I created a travel journal!
This is something I am SO so soooooo excited about. I have talked about my journaling method for years (do you remember my Huffington Post article about this?) and finally, thanks to inspiration from a fellow entrepreneur, decided to create, manufacture, and sell my own journal. The Pack This Journal is something I am so proud of. My goal is to create a community around more meaningful travel experiences. So often we post on social media, send pictures to our friends, write in our blog. But what about those little, tangible things we collect on our trip? I hope you will start saving your receipts, ticket stubs, plane tickets, and more. All things you can add to the journal with the included glue dots. I used to travel with a glue stick, but this is so much easier!
Watch the video below and check out the website to see what makes this travel journal something very special!
I am also selling it on Etsy!
I also wrote more about it on this post from a few weeks ago.
I don’t know why I can’t shake the feeling of things being rather slow moving to start 2018. Being sick doesn’t help, I know, but I am trying to get my business off the ground and stay focused on the steps ahead. Growing a business I am proud of, getting married to truly the best man I know and one I am so honored to call mine, and continuing to grow my career to be exactly as I want it to be! Time to get moving, and I hope you will follow along with me on the journey. I can’t wait to share 2018 with you!
